Volumetric, Inc. was founded in 2018 by Jordan Miller and Bagrat Grigoryan. Its mission is to empower the next generation of advanced biofabrication with high quality materials and systems for 3D bioprinting. In 2021, the company was successfully acquired by 3D Systems, becoming a part of an important ongoing organ and lung bioprinting project along with United Therapeutics. 

The company’s founders Jordan and Bagrat published a now history-making Nature article focusing on light-based bioprinting, the foundation technology behind VolumetricBio.
