Dr. Yunlong Tang

Joint lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering Monash University

Dr. Yunlong Tang joined the Faculty of Engineering at Monash University in Feb 2020. Currently, he is a lecturer jointly appointed by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.  His major research interests are in the general field of design and manufacturing, including smart manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and its related design methods, sustainable design and manufacturing, AI-aided design, CAD/CAM, design and fabrication of lattice or cellular materials. Yunlong has over nine years of international R&D experience, participating in several national research and industrial projects from China, Canada, Europe, and Singapore. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from McGill University, Canada in 2017, M.Sc. degree from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China in 2013, B.Sc. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2010. Before he coming to Monash, he did one and half year Post-Doc research at Singapore University of Technology and Design and was working on the next generation of CAD software for AM. He is a leading developer of an open-source lattice structure design and optimization software called INTRALATTICE PRO which has been downloaded more than ten thousand times by now.

Shuchi “SK” Khurana

Shuchi “SK” Khurana is the founder and CEO of Addiguru which provides real-time monitoring solutions for Additive Manufacturing. SK has more than twenty years of experience and has commercialized six products. He also ran a start-up company for six years that was focused on social impact and women’s health. He has five granted patents and 10+ peer-reviewed publications in the field of predictive analytics and materials science. SK has an MBA and MS in Materials Science from The Ohio State University. SK got his B. Tech. from IIT Kanpur, a top engineering institute in India.

Dr. Qiang Huang is currently a Professor at the Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles. His research focuses on AI and Machine Learning for Manufacturing, in particular, Machine Learning for Additive Manufacturing (ML4AM). He was the holder of Gordon S. Marshall Early Career Chair in Engineering at USC from 2012 to 2016. He received the National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2011 and IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering Best Paper Award from IEEE Robotics and Automation Society in 2014.

He is Department Editor for IISE Transactions, Associate Editor for ASME Transactions, Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, and a member of the Editorial Board for Journal of Quality Technology. He also served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering and for IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters.

Davide Marini

Co-founder and CEO, Inkbit

Davide is a co-founder and CEO at Inkbit. He was previously co-founder and CEO at Firefly BioWorks, an MIT startup that commercialized a novel assay for miRNA detection, based on functional microparticles manufactured by flow lithography. Davide led Firefly from inception to its acquisition by Abcam. He obtained his BS in Industrial Engineering from Politecnico of Milan and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.

Tuan Tranpham

Tuan TranPham is Chief Revenue Officer at AREVO and prior to that he spend 18 years working for six of the largest 3D printing companies, such as Z Corp, 3D Systems, Objet, Stratasys, Arcam (a GE company) and Desktop Metal.

Tuan possesses a unique perspective and insight on 3D printing applications, challenges, opportunities, technologies and trends. Tuan is extensively connected within the 3D printing industry and has over 21,000+ LinkedIN followers.  He was recently presented a Distinguished INnovator Operators award, known as “the DINO Award” within the 3D Printing Industry.  

Tuan earned a Business (Export) Engineering degree from the Danish Technical University (DTU) and gained business experience while working in Denmark, England, Hong Kong, Japan and the United States.  

He speaks Danish, English and Vietnamese. Tuan is based in Greater Boston, MA where he lives with his wife Thao and son Sebastien.

Fun fact: He has traveled and competed all “7 Wonders of the World” – both the new and the old ones.
